First Day in Paradise

After our flight landed in St Lucia, we drove through acres and acres of banana plantations. This made me pretty hungry considering it had been over four hours since my last meal. The bananas were covered in blue plastic bags which I was told helps to protect the bananas from insects and birds.

Our driver, Thomas, serenaded love songs to Cory and I after he found out we were getting married over the weekend. He was an incredible singer! We asked him if he would sing at our wedding but it turned out he was already booked to sing at another wedding on Saturday.

After someone in our group mentioned they could really use a drink, Thomas stopped at a roadside bar with a gorgeous view of a village he called Fisherman’s Cove. We all ordered the local beer- Piton Beer! It was love at first sip for all the beer drinkers in the group!

Once we arrived and got settled in our villa at the Windjammer Landing Resort, Cory and I passed out Welcome/Beach Bags to all our wedding guests. The bags were filled with a Welcome Letter/Wedding Itinerary, beach towels, sunscreen, aloe vera lotion, chap stick, underwater cameras, spray bottles, and beach balls. Everyone seemed to really like the gift and actually used the bag as a beach bag throughout the trip!

Following dinner (sorry no pics- I was way too hungry to pull out the camera), we were entertained by Fire Dancers. Our group had a blast watching the local entertainment. Cory unwillingly received a fire dancer lap dance! He was a good sport about it considering the dancer was twirling flames just inches away from his head.

Lastly, we retired inside our mosquito netted bed…
