Party Planning
Ever wonder how much pasta to cook for 100 people? Well, we cooked 12 pounds of pasta for my friends’ couple shower on Saturday! It was a mafia/mobster themed party so we emphasized Italian food. Along with the marinara sauce, meatballs, and pasta, we served salad with romaine lettuce, grape tomatoes, cucumbers, artichokes hearts, and Italian dressing on the side.
And of course there was vino!!! We went through three cases of wine…
Plus, we had a ton of finger foods… 300 sandwiches, 2 veggie trays, 1 fruit tray, cheese & crackers, olives, dessert pastries, etc…
We set tea lights, roses, and pictures of the happy couple everywhere for ambiance…
Two days before the party, the cake baker called and said she was unable to make the cake due to a family emergency. So we actually made the cake! Rolling out fondant icing is extremely difficult!!! Seriously, what an arm workout! There were several other layers of cake that we sliced before the party to make it quick and easy to pass around.
Keeping with the mafia/mobster theme, we set out casino cards, poker chips, etc while Frank Sinatra on Pandora played in the background…
Here is a pic of the happy couple Chris and Claudia (in costume of course!)…
I also dressed up as a flapper while Cory dressed like a 1920’s mobster in a pin stripped suit.
After hours and hours days and days of party planning, manual labor, and cooking, the party turned out fabulous! We received tons of compliments on the food and the decor. My friends actually think I should consider changing my career to a party planner because I was so organized. I had tons of “to do” list and I even had a time line the day of the party… for example, the second batch of marinara sauce began cooking at 3:30 pm! My type A personality definitely kept things on track and within the party budget. We stretched every last penny!
As far as the food, we had something for everyone including vegetarians!
When is the last time you hosted a party? What type of food did you serve?
Have a wonderful day and thanks for reading

The party was a success!! Everything was great and food was great also! The theme was really a hit. Maybe you should do party planning on the side!!!! Haha! Very proud of you!!!! My recent party planning was your shower but it was catered, but the centerpieces were a challenge for me, but everything was great!!

What a cute idea! I love themed parties.
I hosted a holiday cookie party back in December but it was pretty low key. It looks like a lot of hard work went into it…and it paid.
Maybe you could be RD/party planner. haha.

Wow! You guys did an amazing job! We haven’t had a party in quite some time as it’s a bit difficult with the toddler right now…

No pictures of the cake??! I want to see your fondant creation!! Everything looks so amazing, and what a perfect theme. It looks like you put a lot of work into this party, I’m very impressed. I have never thrown a party of my own, believe it or not, but Nick and I plan on hosting many parties once we finally move into a house! Clearly I need to come to you for advice
