Birthday Dinner & Super Bowl Champions
The Saints WON the Super Bowl!!!! After the Super Bowl hype all week in New Orleans, Cory and I decided we should definitely participate in the celebrations in the French Quarter with some friends; after all, your team making it to the Super Bowl could be a once in a lifetime event.
We headed to Bourbon Street before the game and saw several hardcore Saints fans of all ages!
A very serious Breesus Christ!
We decided to catch a taxi back to our condo to watch the game… the bars and restaurants were packed and we didn’t want to miss a second of the game! Needless to say, everyone at my house had tears of joy after we won. Cory bought a couple newspapers on his way to work and plans to frame one…
This Super Bowl win was the icing on the cake cupcakes for Cory’s birthday celebrations! Speaking of his birthday, I baked his favorite- Funfetti cupcakes.
Then, we celebrated in true foodie style at Dante’s Kitchen, our favorite restaurant. It has the best ambiance. You feel like you are having a cozy dinner at a good eclectic friend’s house. Plus, the food is outstanding and very fresh since they use as much local and organic foods as possible.
We started with a couple of celebratory drinks. I ordered the Peach Mojito and Cory ordered an Old Fashioned.
Next, they brought out complimentary Molasses bread topped with honey butter… SO GOOD!
We started with a couple appetizers- 1) The Seared Jumbo Scallops cooked with walnut oil served over grapefruit with a red wine reduction and 2) Dante’s Pot Likker which was recommended by our waitress. It was pork and beef served over toasted ciabatta bread. We loved both! I’m already craving the scallops as I’m typing this!
For the main dishes, I ordered the Pan Seared Red Fish served over a red wine reduction and root veggies- so delicious! Cory ordered the Roasted Quail stuffed with boudin, fig and persimmons in a cabernet sauce. He loved his dish; I was not a fan of the quail!
If you are ever in New Orleans, you should definitely check out this neighborhood gem! While we did have somewhat of an indulgent meal, the portion sizes were moderate and we left feeling great and not uncomfortably stuffed!.
What’s your favorite “foodie” restaurant? Did you do anything fun for the Super Bowl?

I don’t know the least bit about football…but I know tons about good food, and you sure had your share of amazing food! I don’t exactly have a favorite restaurant…I never really go to the same restaurant twice! Too many good restaurants, not enough time (and $$)!!

I love the tutu. Great win! You guys look like you had some fun. Frame that paper for sure!! I sure will if I ever see the Seahawks in a bowl again.
Dinner looks phenominal! It’s nice when serving sizes are more appropriate and you can enjoy a few different bites. My mouth was watering over your scallops too. THat’s a favorite of mine to cook at home.
Have a good week..

Favorite foodie restaurant? Probably this cajun-Mexican fusion restaurant near my parent’s house — it’s delicious!

Congrats to your Saints!! I am not into professional football, but I thought this was a particularly fantastic win since it was their first. Very cool. It looks like the Saints fans are similar to OSU Buckeye fans; ie. they are wild and crazy!
Nick and I always prefer watching big games in the comfort of our own home, on our couch, with a couple beers
No loudness, and we can pause and rewind if we wish.
Favorite foodie restaurant? Any place that serves good sushi! I also love scallops, so those scallop apps look like the perfect food for me. And quail? Well, I don’t think I’ve tried it, but I love trying new things.
Glad you had a nice weekend! Have a good day.

What a great win for NO! It would be fun to celebrate the festivities in that party city.
Your birthday dinner looks soooo good! I love what you ordered – exactly what I would have gotten.
