Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends. I certainly did!
As I expected, there was an abundance of food at my mother’s house for Thanksgiving… turkey (of course), ham, seafood gumbo, shrimp fettuccini, Cajun dirty rice, artichoke casserole, peas, sweet potato casserole, crescent rolls, oysters. I followed my own advice and started the day with my usual breakfast (oh how I love cereal!) so that I did not show up ravenous for the Thanksgiving festivities.
To start, I had a bowl of my sister’s homemade seafood gumbo…
Delicious! For my main entree, I had…
- Turkey cooked by my Uncle Erroll
- My Aunt Karen’s Cajun dirty rice (made with ground beef)
- My Nanny Pam’s peas and (my absolute favorite dish of Thanksgiving) sweet potato casserole
- Wine
I also saved some room for unpictured dessert… a slice of my Aunt Jeneen’s heavenly strawberry and banana cake… think graham cracker crust, whipped cream, strawberries and bananas!
It was a great day filled with fabulous food and family!
Hope everyone has a great weekend

Thanks for your comment on my blog!
Your Thanksgiving meal looks delicious. I LOVE a good gumbo!
I am glad you enjoyed my gumbo! Thanksgiving was great and had fun spending time with the family. I tried to do small portions and not over eat. Your pumpkin pie was delicious! Aunt Jeneen always has great desserts! I walk/jogged 3 miles that morning just so did not feel bad for cheating and eating her dessert!!!
It was delicious! Portion control is so important during the holidays. That is dedication to make exercise a priority on a holiday! I’m proud
