Quick and Easy Pizza

I have introduced many “different” foods into Cory’s life.  He thought I was crazy the first time I suggested having couscous as a side for dinner (he ended up loving it)… insisted he didn’t care for hummus until I brought home Sabra’s Pine Nut Hummus.  He has tried and liked many “new” foods… pomegranates, pumpkin seeds, etc… since we have lived together.  Don’t get me wrong, there were some “new” food defeats. He despised grape leaves and I still cannot get him to have a change of heart with goat cheese.  But overall, he is willing to try new foods and usually ends up liking them!  Whole wheat naan was no exception… in fact, I think this may be one of his favorite “new” foods that I have introduced to him.

This was the first time both of us had naan so I decided to prepare a simple spinach and cheese pizza with the flatbread as the crust.  First, I spread pizza sauce over the naan…

Next, I topped with 2% Shredded Italian Cheese and spinach…

On a airbake pan, I heated the pizzas in the oven at 400 degrees until the cheese was melted.

This was so quick… less than ten minutes… and so easy!  And according to Cory, it was delicious.  He rated it 8 or 9 on a scale of from 1 to 10… which is a big deal because he is a tough critic.  Tens are usually reserved for cuisine from our favorite restaurant Dante’s Kitchen!  I loved the soft, chewy crust.

  5. I love the idea of using naan as the crust!

I do make homemade pizza and make a homemade whole wheat crust. But I think I’ll try naan next time…

My favorite toppings? I love sauteed mushrooms on pizza. I also made a potato/brie cheese pizza a little while ago that was really good.

MMmmm… naan. Delish! I’ve never used it for pizza crust either. But I do love pizza. Usually pretty simple with fresh buffalo mazarella slices, oregano and tomato slices. My own little margherita pizza on Trader Joe’s premade dough. Super quick and easy.
